Local Employment and Unemployment
Metropolitan Pittsburgh’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased from 4.3 percent in July 2019 to 14.3 percent in July 2020. During that period, the number of people in the labor force decreased by 14,700 while the number of unemployed increased by 118,500.
Within the region, Butler County held the lowest unemployment rate at 11.5 percent, while Fayette County held the highest rate at 17 percent.
