Local Employment and Unemployment

Metropolitan Pittsburgh’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased from 7.5 percent in March 2021 to 5.0 percent in March 2022. During that period, the number of people in the labor force decreased by 15,00 while the number of unemployed decreased by 26,000.

Within the region,Butler County held the lowest unemployment rate at 3.9 percent, while Fayette County held the highest rate at 6.2 percent.
