Ye Olde Parking Meter?
Municipalities struggle with parking. Some have eliminated parking meters. Pittsburgh, Sewickley, Mt. Lebanon, and Carnegie have installed kiosks instead.
The time for parking meters hasn’t expired, but in many communities, you’ll no longer need coins. In Pittsburgh, Greensburg, Dormont, McKeesport, and others, meters still exist, but thanks to the innovative Pittsburgh-based app company MeterFeeder, payments can be made online.
If you’re looking for the best value for paid street parking, go to Freeport in Armstrong County where the meters are decades old. It will cost a quarter to park your car along Fifth Street for two hours. Parking in Pittsburgh’s Market Square is $4.00 for an hour.
