The Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area’s unemployment rate — seasonally adjusted — decreased a total of 1 percentage points from January 2018 to January 2019 to 3.8 percent. Pittsburgh’s unemployment rate was higher than the benchmark average of 3.6 percent and was the seventh-​highest unemployment rate of all benchmark regions in January.
