Year-Over-Year Job Growth

The Pittsburgh region gained about 8,700 jobs between February 2019 and February 2020, a .5 percent increase over the year. 

According to the preliminary numbers, in the 12-month period, jobs in professional and business services increased by 1.45 percent, financial services increased by 1.2 percent and jobs in the information sector increased 1.6 percent. Mining, logging and construction increased by 3.7 percent while government went up .2 percent.

Jobs in manufacturing reported no change after trending downwards for several months.

Retail jobs decreased by 3 percent, wholesale trade declined 2.1 percent, education and health services declined by .8 percent and trade, transportation and utilities declined by 1 percent.
