Waiting For…
So many people waiting.
In Monroeville, paramedic Dave Sherman was waiting to respond to another emergency call.
In Indiana Township, Lucas Goeller was waiting for a life-saving liver transplant.
In Mt. Lebanon, Emily Eagleton and Laura Handy were waiting to become parents.
In East Deer Township, dozens of motorists were waiting in a construction zone.
Lucas Goeller, 11, received a lifesaving liver transplant at age 2. When Lucas was photographed on March 14, 2024, the transplanted liver was failing and the Indiana Township boy was waiting for another transplant. “We are trying to stay ahead, but liver disease is ruthless,” Lucas’s mother, Jessica Goeller, wrote on April 3. “Time is ticking down for everyone waiting. Kids and adults are going to die waiting this year.”
At times, we are all waiting for something. For some, the wait ends with a life-changing event. But often, the wait is a disruption to our schedule, a pause in our day.
Sometimes we’re waiting in the wings or playing the waiting game. Sometimes the wait is difficult to bear.
Do good things come to those who wait? Perhaps, but wait just a minute…Will it be worth the wait?
What are you waiting for?
