Diamond Horseshoe Ball Kicks Off Pittsburgh Opera’s season
Pittsburgh Opera officially started off its 2017-18 season with the Diamond Horseshoe Ball at the Omni William Penn on Friday, September 22.
The gala was chaired by Dr. Vonda Wright, a renowned orthopedic surgeon with UPMC, and her husband Peter Taglianetti, a Stanley Cup winner with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Over 200 attendees enjoyed a cocktail reception, delicious dinner of filet mignon and Chilean sea bass, performances by the much-loved Resident Artists of Pittsburgh Opera, and dancing through the night to the high-energy Elite Show Band.
Additionally, the Diamond Horseshoe Ball featured both live and silent auctions. The live auction was conducted by WTAE-TV Channel 4’s legendary broadcaster Sally Wiggin and international star mezzo-soprano Marianne Cornetti. It featured tantalizing and exclusive items such as an all-inclusive Cuban cruise, a South African safari, and a trip to Rome.
The event raised over $225,000 towards Pittsburgh Opera’s mission of enriching Pittsburgh and the tri-state area.
