PITTSBURGH QUARTERLY WINS 8 GOLDEN QUILLS

With eight 2008 Golden Quill Awards, Pittsburgh Quarterly led all regional magazines in the competition for the best journalism in Western Pennsylvania. Sponsored by The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania, the awards were announced May 12 at the Pittsburgh Hilton. Of all media outlets -- print, television and radio -- Pittsburgh Quarterly was second only to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which won 14 Golden Quills. Also during the awards presentation, the Press Club honored Aviva Radbord, weekend assignment editor/public affairs producer, for KDKA-TV, with the Presidents Award, and the organization awarded Toni Locy, Shott Chair of Journalism at West Virginia University, with the Service to Journalism Award. Both were recognized for their contributions to the field of journalism.

Rossilynne Skena of Level Green, a sophomore at Penn State University, received the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania scholarship, given to an aspiring journalism student.
